Company History

igen is a not for profit partnership company that started life in 1996 to provide the careers service for Leeds. It was formed by local partners including Leeds City Council, the Leeds TEC, Universities, Colleges and business representatives. The company was established to provide the statutory Careers Service for Leeds. Membership of the company still comprises a mix of local partners from the public, education and business sectors.

The company was originally set up as Leeds Careers Guidance, however as the company expanded and grew the company underwent a re-branding in 2003 and igen was born.

igen has developed from strength to strength and soon expanded out of Leeds into the Tees Valley and Humberside, as well as setting up Triangle Staffing, which is the largest national employment agency for careers and personal advisers; and careergen which is a paid for careers, information, guidance and personal development service for professionals.

We have offices in Northumberland, Yorkshire and Humberside, Tees Valley, the North West and East of England.

The focus of the company is on the delivery of contracted public services which are free at the point of access. Our main customers are Local Authorities (Connexions Services) and the Learning and Skills Councils.

In 2008 igen established a wholly-owned subsidiary, igen enterprises, which provides corporate and business to business services, including Triangle Staffing.
