igen's advisers hit the airways in Hull
igen’s advisers have been hitting the airwaves in Hull to bring careers advice to people in their homes and cars.
The advisers have been working with local community radio station WHCR to talk about different employment themes including: what help is available to those affected by redundancy, successful job searches and making a career change.
These themed features formed part of a local ‘Job Seekers Week’ organised by the station to help people look at the employment options available to them and for those who are not ready to enter work, to find out about the addition support and training that can help them to progress. The sessions were well received by listeners with good feedback received by the station and provided a useful opportunity to promote the Employability Skills Programme and Next Step.
Radio DJ Pete Haslam who organised the sessions said: “At WHCR we try to do something positive and pro-active as a station and the kindness and co-operation of the advisers at igen made this feature really interesting and helpful for our listeners.”
The week was enhanced by a job find slot provided in partnership with Job Centre Plus to provide updates on current vacancies.
WHCR said they will look at running a similar feature in the future to build on the success from the Job Seekers Week and continue to help people in Hull to find employment and training.
