
Rachel Mann has been appointed as the new Chair of the igen Ltd Board. She brings with her a wealth of experience from the skills and education, local government and health sectors.
Rachel joins igen Ltd at a time of great change within the careers, education and skills sector. The role will see her take the strategic lead for igen Ltd as events on the national stage see the demise of the Connexions service and development of the new all age careers service as well as changes in the training sector for both adults and young people.
Rachel said “My understanding of the complexity of the provision within the careers guidance, training and skills sector will enable me to guide igen Ltd through the future development of the sector, building on igen’s established wealth of experience to continue to grow and develop the company.”
Rachel is founding partner and managing director of an executive coaching and leadership development company based in Harrogate. For over 10 years Rachel worked at director and chief executive level, initially in the health service and subsequently local government. Rachel was Chief Executive of Craven District Council in North Yorkshire for 5 years from 1999 to 2004. In addition to this executive experience Rachel has held non-executive posts over the last 8 years. She was a member of the Learning and Skills Council for North Yorkshire from 2001 to 2006 and appointed chair in 2006. She also served on the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Board of the learning and skills council from 2006 to 2008 and for its last year was appointed Regional Chair.
igen is a not-for-profit company established in 1996. igen is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the igen trust, which has charitable status. igen has also established a subsidiary, igen enterprises, which provides corporate and commercial services, including Triangle staffing, employment agency for careers and social work advisers. The focus of igen is on the delivery of public services which are free at the point of access.
igen Ltd is at the forefront of delivering careers and personal development services to young people and adults across the north of England. From initial beginnings in Leeds igen Ltd has rapidly expanded into Humber, North and South Yorkshire and Northumberland. Igen Ltd is the current provider of the Connexions IAG Service in North Yorkshire and the Connexions Service in Northumberland and is the contracted lead agency for the Connexions Targeted Support contract in Leeds, in which igen leads a multi agency, cross sector partnership comprising VCS organisations and Leeds City Council Youth Service. igen Ltd works with young people in post-statutory education and adults through a range of contracts for Next Step, Foundation Learning and NEET Engagement programmes, and is also a subcontractor for the Work Programme.
