Fantastic Ofsted result

Ofsted praise innovative use of funding

igen has been praised during a recent Ofsted inspection for “its innovative use of funding” to meet the needs of all its learners.

The inspection of the Entry to Employment (e2e) programmes in LeedsDoncaster, Hatfield and Alnwick resulted in grade 1 (outstanding) and grade 2 (good) across the board.

In Leeds, igen is the lead e2e provider in a partnership of 10. Partners include representatives from the voluntary and community sector as well as private training providers. Ofsted judged the range of provision to meet the needs and interests of learners as “very good”.

e2e is a programme which support young people who have not yet achieved a level two qualification (equivalent to 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C grades). igen’s grade 1 (outstanding)in Equal Opportunities is testament to the organisation and its partners “very strong focus on equality and diversity, promoting a strong ethos of care and support for all learners.”

One of the key areas looked at by Ofsted is an organisation’s capacity to improve its provision. igen’s Grade 1 (outstanding) is a clear indication that igen can successfully and consistently improve its services for young people to ensure a quality learning experience.

Ofsted highlighted igen’s management of the e2e partnership as “very effective” and Ofsted have selected the model to be showcased on its best practice website for other providers to access.

Christine Macniven, Director of igen’s Learning and Skills Services said “although we always feel that our e2e provision is of high quality and our results support this, it is terrific to have the expert view of the Ofsted Inspectors endorsing our partnership in this way. It is testament to the professionalism of the dedicated staff who work unremittingly to improve the life chances of the young people on our e2e programmes. I’m absolutely delighted with our report which is now on the Ofsted website.”
