Learners from the Doncaster E2E programme were invited to take part in the Doncaster Olympics.
We formed a team to represent igen and take part in several team challenges throughout the day.The team were advised to bring a change of clothing as water would play a very big part – and they were not wrong!!!!!
During the day the team took park in games called: The Egg Race, The Jumble Spring, Skiing, Bombs Away, Fun-all Tunnels, hats on, Chinese Laundry and the Slippery Slope. The course consisted of very large inflatables which required jumping on, in and through – often in very wet conditions with the added difficulty of suds – lot of them!! It was obvious from the very beginning that the teams would need to communicate and work as a team, thinking up strategies to beat their opponents. What a learning experience!!
Terry – a learner on the igen team said “it was a really enjoyable day.Getting wet and soapy was the best bit”.
Gerry – a learner on the igen team said “it was an extraordinary day – better than I thought it would be.We were really pleased to come 4th out of nine teams”.
Sally Marsh (Chair) of the Doncaster Association of Training Managers (DATM) said “we wanted to go for a Sports day to promote health and wellbeing – which I think we did.We also wanted to raise some money for the charity – Help a Hallam Child – which will be increased by the £35 donations from each organisation entering as well as a raffle.A great day was enjoyed by all”
