igen was proud to host the IAG Standards: National Good Practice Event in London which was aimed at 14-19 and IAG Leads, Connexions Services, Diploma Practioners and those with responsibility for managing the delivery of IAG in schools and colleges.

igen works on behalf of the DCSF to support Diploma Consortia in the development of IAG. This process includes assessment for Consortia and Local Authorities using the 12 National Quality Standards for IAG.
Mohammed Haroon, Deputy Director, Supporting Children and Young People Group (DCSF) delivered a key notes speech on ‘Quality, Choice and Aspiration: A strategy for young people’s information, advice and guidance.’ Providing the opportunity for delegates to learn about future developments and ask questions.
A key feature of the event was a presentation from
Jenny Cryer, igen Business Development Manager about the finding of the national IAG diploma audits which igen has delivered to over 200 consortia. The feedback included the findings of national trends and the sharing of good practice from across the country. One delegate who attended from a school said: “The speakers were excellent and it was useful to see the current picture”.
The event was supported by a series of seminars delivered by igen consultants who have been involved in the IAG Diploma Audit process. These provided focused information on a range of topics across the Diploma IAG Forum, including practical advice, best practice and innovative ideas. An Operational Manager who attended the event said: “Each session provided something to think about and practical ideas for implementation.”
The identification of best practice has been a key feature within the IAG Audits with Paul Bellamy and Rosemary Robbins from Connexion Wolverhampton showcasing their experience of ‘Using an Area Wide Approach’ to help highlight how they have developed systems which can be transferred to other areas.
Feedback from the event has been very positive with delegates saying “This was a very useful event and well worth attending” and “This has been a very informative day and extremely useful.”
