The Olympics come to Doncaster

Learners and staff from the Doncaster office celebrated the UK 2012 Olympic Games by staging and participating in their own unique version of the sporting event.

Learners represented teams from different countries across the world (having researched the country of their choice) in 7 different sporting events, hosted in the confines of the large IT room; a challenge in itself. The room suitably decorated and an opening ceremony starting with the lighting of the Olympic torch made for a very atmospheric and enthusiastic start.Events included shot put, javelin throwing, archery, swimming, a relay race, football and a marathon.

The young people were very competitive and the winners, Brazil led by Patryk Bonowicz, walked away with 2 gold medals, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. They were closely followed in the league table by Canada and Ethiopia. Well done to all the staff and young people at the centre for such a fun experience and a terrific performance!
