igen has three centres in Hull. The igen Delivery Team are working from the Learning Centre in a dedicated Adult Guidance Centre in Hull City Council Library Service. The Learning Centre incorporates free internet access for adults looking for learning and work.

Future Pathways in Hull Central Library provides adults with information, advice and guidance on all aspects of learning and employment, including:

  • Producing an effective CV
  • Applying for jobs online and setting up email accounts
  • Completing job application forms
  • Help with job search
  • Advice on careers/occupations
  • Advice on training and education
  • Finding the right course

Advisers are available in the Learning Centre on the second floor Monday to Friday.Appointments can be booked by ringing 01482 211116, or by calling in personally.

Initials Steps Programme

Initial Steps is a 6 week programme to help adults to overcome the barriers stopping them from getting back into work.One to one support is available with a qualified adviser, who will individually tailor the support required.Funding may be available for such courses as Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, Customer Service and IT.

Under certain circumstances a £50 voucher could be available on starting a job with a further £100 if the job lasts for 13 weeks.

Employability Skills Programme

The Employability Skills Programme is a joint LSC and jobcentreplus programme for jobcentreplus customers whose main barrier to work is their level of literacy and numeracy.Customers can be accepted from those with entry level one skills to those aiming at a full level two qualification.A full employability programme, based on the skills, behaviours and attitudes that employers require is also included.A commitment of 20 hours a week is required and this can be for up to 15 weeks.Part time is also available under certain circumstances.
